US News Medical School Rankings Excel Spreadsheets
Non-proportioned weightings relative to total raw score.

Proportioned weightings relative to total raw score (e.g. Harvard gets a 0.3 score in the research funding category, Mayo gets a 0.1 score in the faculty resources category)

Closest matching to the actual ranks so far. Changed student selectivity category to reflect a weighted average of MCAT, GPA, accept rate, followed by standardization and overall weighting. No discrepancies in the top 10 schools.
Discrepancies: 11/12, 14/15, 21/22, 24/25
Changed standardization to produce non-negative standardized scores for each category.
Discrepancies: 9/10, 14/15, 21-25
The Excel spreadsheets above are different versions trying to recreate the US News rankings.
To view the spreadsheet, left-click on the link and wait for Excel to load in the browser window.
You can download the spreadsheets by doing the following:
1) Left click on the spreadsheet and wait for the Excel browser window to load
2) Click on "File" --> "Save As" to save the file to your computer.
Each spreadsheet is split into 2 sections. The left white section of the spreadsheet is the official US News data. The right, blue section of the spreadsheet is my attempt to recreate the rankings. The far right column, "raw score" is the sum total of the different categories, including MCAT, GPA, research funding, faculty resources. So far, I have been unable to match the "raw score" ranking to the official US News rankings, which means there is some kind of error in the blue part of the spreadsheets that I have not fixed.
Feel free to download these and play with the rankings. You can sort the schools, or change the formulas to the right of the sheet to try and recreate the US News rankings. If anybody is successful in recreating these rankings, please email me at yersinia21@yahoo.com
